SAAYE MASHALE WARI CHICKEN ( Green Masala Chicken)



This is a flavourful chicken preparation made with saao mashalo ( green masala ) It is a blend of coriander leaves, mint leaves, garlic, ginger and onion. Various dishes are made with this masala as the base in Sindhi Cuisine. 

Ingredients:
Chicken.........1 kg
Onions..........................3-4 (chopped)
Mint Leaves................1 cup
Coriander Leaves.......1 to 1 1/2 cups
Green Chillies.............4-5
Garlic........................... 2 pods
Tomatoes.................... 2
Yogurt......................... approx 1 cup
Coriander Powder.....1 tbsp
Red Chilli Powder......1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder......1 tsp
Garam masala..... 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil


Method:
1. Grind onions, green chillies, mint leaves, coriander leaves, garlic and tomatoes to a coarse paste.

2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add the ground paste and saute it for 4-5 minutes. Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder.

3. Add the chicken. Saute again for a few minutes.

5. Blend the yogurt and add to the curry.
6. Add sufficient water to cook. Finally add the garam masala and cook it for 3-4 whistles.

Serve with parathas or plain steamed rice.

  1. I love the creamy rich green gravy, I would love a vegetarian version of this, maybe I can make by adding paneer or potatoes??

    1. Yes Nayna.... we also have a vegetarian version with the same masala.. aloo and bhindi combo.
